FAQ Section
Why resurface instead of replace?
First major reason - COST! Save money - up to 80% over granite!
Second - non-porous. Traditional granite countertops are naturally porous and absorb liquids and foods that can hold in harmful bacteria. Granite Paint countertop finishes are designed to lock out moisture and resist bacteria because of their unique blend of polymers and minerals. The finish is highly durable and non-porous, resulting in a countertop finish that's beautiful and safe for your family!
Third - Convenience. There is no demo, tear-out, or re-build. It simply goes over your old (properly prepared) surface.
How durable is the Granite Countertop Paint?
The finish is as durable as laminate, and more durable in some regards. The polymers are automotive grade resins that are used in the manufacture of car bumpers, so yes - your countertop is extremely durable.
Although you may use your counters in forty-eight hours, don't aggressively scrub them for two weeks. Like most new water-based resin technology, the cure time for your new surface is approximately two weeks to achieve its full hardness.
Is it shiny like granite?
Yes, the sheen is a very reflective, semi-gloss, cut granite finish.
Is it smooth like granite?
Yes, it is a smooth finish with the contours of natural cut stone.
Can it be scratched?
Yes, just like granite and Formica - it’s not recommended as a cutting or chopping surface. Use common sense and a cutting board as you should with any countertop surface. However - if ever necessary - you can renew your surface finish quickly and easily.
Will it stain?
It can if strong contaminates are allowed to set for a long period. A good practice is to care for the surface as you would any fine furnishing. Clean up spills right away.
How long will it last?
As long as any conventional countertop.
Will it show fingerprints?
No, unlike mined granite, the finish will not fingerprint because the clear resin surrounds the minerals.
Is it heat resistant?
Yes, your new Granite Countertop Surface is heat resistant up to 250F. As with Formica - it is not designed for pots or pans directly from ovens or ranges. Use a trivet or an insulated heating pad for hot items.
